Ace Take
A downloadable game
Ace Take is a fast-paced, "aces only" trick-taking game that challenges you to play your highest-suited cards to rule the table. Featuring 28 cards inspired by historical and regional decks—like the French Heart, Italian Coin, and German Bell—your goal is to out-rank your opponents, capture tricks, and climb your way to victory.
Will you play your cards right and be the first to cross the finish line?
๐ Game Overview
- Players: 2โ6 players
- Ages: 5 and up
- Objective: Collect tricks to score points and be the first player to reach 100 points or more.
โ๏ธ Suit Strength & Rankings
In Ace Take, suit is everything. Cards are ranked from strongest to weakest based on their historical suits (from Sword down to Acorn).
The Suit Hierarchy (From Highest to Lowest Value):
- Sword (14 Points)
- Star (13 Points)
- Shield (12 Points)
- Rose (11 Points)
- Pike (10 Points)
- Leaf (9 Points)
- Heart (8 Points)
- Diamond (7 Points)
- Cup (6 Points)
- Coin (5 Points)
- Club (4 Points)
- Clover (3 Points)
- Bell (2 Points)
- Acorn (1 Point)
๐ฎ How to Play
๐ ๏ธ 1. Setup
- Shuffle the 28-card deck and deal all cards evenly to the players.
- Set any remaining extra cards aside out of play. Keep your hand hidden!
- The player holding the Ace of the lowest-ranked suit starts the game. If there is a tie for the lowest suit, the younger player goes first. Play proceeds to the left.
๐ 2. Playing a Trick
- The starting player places one card face up.
- Going clockwise, each following player tries to play a card that outranks the ones already on the table.
- The trick is won by the player who laid down the highest-ranked suit. If there is a tie for the highest card, the player who laid their card down first wins the trick.
- The winner of the trick leads the next trick. Play continues until everyone runs out of cards.
๐งฎ 3. Scoring & Winning
Once a round ends, players calculate their scores based on the tricks they captured:
- You score positive points for your highest-value cards equal to the number of tricks you won.
- You then subtract the points of an equal amount of your lowest-value cards.
- Example: If you capture 1 trick, you take your single highest card (e.g., Sword = 14) and subtract your single lowest card (e.g., Bell = 2) for a round total of 12 points.
The person who collected the most tricks starts the next round. The first player to reach 100 points or more wins the game! If a tie occurs at 100+ points, all players continue playing extra rounds until a single clear winner stands.
